Speech

topic
New Zealand is the best country in the world

Introduction
There are many reasons why New Zealand is the best country in the world and I will share four of those Native to New Zealand reasons with you today.

Some of New Zealand’s most native birds and trees

are very special just like the Kiwi. The Kiwi is the nation's sweetheart. It is a very endangered species. The kauri tree is a very special tree to New Zealand, as are some animals. The Tuatara is the only living reptile species from the dinosaur ages. The Tui can only be found in New Zealand,. You are more likely to hear a Tui before you see it. It has two white feathers under its neck which make it easy to recognise. The New Zealand fantail is one of New Zealand’s best-known birds. They seem to thrive just about anywhere and are known to fly right up to people but not many birds do that. some  Kauri trees grow to more than 50 meters tall, with girths of up to 16 meters. The tallest tree in New Zealand is Tane-Mahuta it is a very old tree. This forest is the home of Tane Mahuta, is the country's largest kauri tree, which is approximately 2,000 years old and still standing right now today.

Beaches in New Zealand

There are many types of beaches and lakes throughout New Zealand. My favourite beach to go to is Rarawa beach. Rarawa is located about 40 minutes north of Kaitaia. I also like the lagoon or in other words- the estuary. There is a log you can jump off into deep water and the rocks are very slippery. There are also other beaches in New Zealand that are very beautiful too such as Ninety Mile. Ninety Mile has awesome sand dunes and there are some very cool locations for sand dune boarding. The most popular dunes for this are at Te Paki Stream. This stretch of beach is used for driving on, as it’s actually a registered highway. Further south down the country near The Coromandel is Hot Water Beach. At low tide, a section of the beach becomes exposed where a hot water spring runs under the sand. Dig up the sand and find the hot water beneath it. As well as these beautiful beaches, New Zealand is home to many gorgeous lakes just as much as beaches.

Native Lakes to New Zealand

Lake Taupo is the largest lake in New Zealand. It is located in Taupo. Being situated on the northern shores of Lake Taupo, there are some fun water activities to get involved in. Many years ago there was a volcano that erupted and made a crater that was so big that it made it the biggest lake in New Zealand. The eruption was so big that the smoke from it could be seen as far away as Japan. We also have a lake that is right next to our school and it is called Lake Ngatu, Lake Ngatu is a dune lake in the Northland Region of New Zealand. It is located to the northwest of Awanui, near Waipapakauri. Lake Ngatu has no inlets or outlets. It is a popular lake for people to swim in. Lake Rotopokaka, also known as Coca Cola Lake, is situated near Tokerau Beach in the Far North. It is well known by locals due to its coca-cola colour which also makes it unique.

What is so interesting and important about New Zealand

the New Zealander adventurer A.J. Hackett started the very first commercial bungy site in Queenstown, New Zealand. From that time, A.J. became the world bungee jumping king and earned quite a good sum of money. Rugby New Zealand Is famous for rugby Sir Edmond Hillary was the first person to climb Mount Everest and he was a New Zealander. So that comes to the end of my speech thanks for listening

Te Reo Comic Strip

W.A.L.T create a quality Te Reo Comic Strip and we are also learning how to ask and answer questions and also translate Te Reo into English. We have been trying to extend our Maori vocabulary and not just do the basics.

This wasn't that hard and the part I liked the most was picking the characters. The hardest part was figuring out the Maori words and checking them to see if they were correct.

ANZAC

WALT: We are learning all about ANZAC day

It wasn't that hard at first but then I just google some information and I got a lot of ideas.

Thank you letter to Isabel

 Dear  Isabel

Thank you for helping us go snorkeling. On behalf of Te Kauru and Te Manga, we would like to say a huge thank you for having the time and effort to make the brilliant day happen for all of us. You taught us a lot of things like how the snapper and crayfish eat the kina.

The top moment of my day was when I went snorkeling and I saw a school of red juvenile snapper as well as a spotty. I saw a lot of kelp, millions of starfish and much more. I love going snorkeling.

Once again thank you for the exciting day and teaching us how to snorkel. It was the best!

Kind Regards,

Eva Jobe

beach education day

beach education day

We have arrived at surf rescue and we are learning the peoples names and what they do. They are called Ari, Emma, Liam, and Val. They are surf rescue and they help people at the beach. After we learned a bit about them we went outside and started playing a game called infinity tag. We had to tag people on the back and then they will have to freeze. The person who got them keeps on going until another person gets him than whoever he got they could be free. We also played another game called evolution. Then we had to go with Ari and Emma to learn more about rips and the beach and how to spot rips. Also what to do when you're stuck in one. This is what you do you lie on your back and put your hand up to get the lifeguard’s attention. But if they don’t see you-you have to swim out to the left or the right. But the main thing is do not panic that’s the worst thing you could possibly do in a rip. Then they showed us there cool little toys. They showed their beach buggy, boat and their chubes and much more but first they showed us a boat. The boat had wooden oars in them and chubes and a blunt knife. Why was the knife blunt you ask? Because the boat was inflatable. And if the boat popped they would have to pay a lot of money to fix it up. Then we had lunch. After that, we were off going to the beach. The waves were humongous and it felt like I was flying every time I was off the ground high on a wave. My favourite part was when the waves came at me that was amazing that is Probably the biggest waves I have been in. Then we had to go back to school. The busses were here waiting and then I gathered all of my stuff jumped on the bus then went home. I had an awesome day.

Most turtles live in tropical/subtropical beaches. Leatherback turtles live in the coldest water temperatures and are often below 40°C.

                   Predators
Turtles predators are dogs, seabirds, raccoons, and sharks, sharks eat anything to a shrimp up to a seal so the sharks are the most dangerous predators to a sea turtle can have. Most sea turtles have a hard shell to

Ahoy Waitangi

A moment in time
SLOW DOWN!!!!!!! It was time to go on the rhibs. After we put all our safety gear on we burst into action and went by the rhib boats. We had to climb up this ladder to get on the boats. There were four seats in the front and four seats in the back. I was sitting in the front where all the action was. We were getting lowered into the water we started of slow, then only a couple seconds later ZOOM!!!!!!!!!!!!!! We blasted over the wave we had already made when we were going slow. Every time we went over a wave I felt like we were going to tip over.
