Seven Sisters of Matariki
Once there was a man named Mitai who lived with his six handsome brothers. Their names were Tom, Bob, Nathan, Josh, Ashton and John. They went hunting up Mount Camel and they saw the most beautiful wahine in the world. The wahine had long, golden hair and their skin was so light, it shone so bright. The men fell immediately in love. The men took them back to make them their wives.The wives ate anything but vegetables. If they saw any kind of vegetable they would scream! One night the men had made dinner and they accidently put a piece of carrot in one of the wahines plates. The wahines names were April, Blair, Brooke, Libby, Chloe and Lilly. The one that screamed was Brooke. She said “if you do this one more time I’m moving out!” The men said, ”Noooooooooooooooooo!!! “Please don’t go!” “Well don’t do that again!” Mitai was suspicious of the wahine. Mitai was spying on the wahine when he saw six Kereru and surprisingly enough, one more fly out. He turned into a Dove and followed the wahine. They made a plan to starve the men to death. So the men made a plan to capture the wahine. They got a magic net and as the wahine were flying away, the men jumped up and captured the wahine. Mitai threw them up into the sky and every Winter Solstice Mitai lets them shine again.
